The Isle of Coll
I travel to weddings on the Scottish Islands frequently but I hadn’t yet been to the Isle Of Coll. Until Heloise & George booked me to photograph their wedding on this tiny island which is reached by ferry from Oban. As you can see from the photographs, the weather was some of the best we have seen this year in Scotland. With deserted beaches around every corner with turquoise, crystal clear waters, Coll was a dream come true for me.
I travelled over in my van which I use as accommodation whilst I am away shooting weddings on the more remote parts of Scotland. It allows me the freedom to travel to islands without too much trouble and to stay on a bit longer if I want to. I ended up staying on the isle of Coll for a couple of extra days as the weather was just too good to leave and I was enjoying the peace and quiet of the island as well as the photographic opportunities. The sunrise below was taken at around 4 am at Struan beach. At this time of year there is very little darkness as the sun sets very close to midnight and starts rises at around 3.30 am. After this trip, I would imagine that I will be back on this island much more frequently in the future.
The wedding ceremony location was quite simple and had the most amazing backdrop!
