Isle of Lewis has become one of my favourite places to photograph weddings, from grand celebrations at venues like Lews Castle and the Cabarfeidh Hotel, the island’s largest wedding venue, to home-grown celebrations in village halls and marquees across the island, to small ceremonies on the beaches at Uig or the Callanish Stones. Lews Castle is one of the most beautiful wedding venues on the island, and the Cabarfeidh Hotel is where many of the island’s larger wedding receptions are held. But some of my favourite Lewis weddings have been in village halls and marquees, put together by the community and family in that warm, hands-on way that island weddings often are.
