Michaela & Iain’s wedding on the Isle of Skye
Michaela and Iain had a wedding day to remember on the Isle of Skye in August this year. As a photographer herself, Michaela’s photographs meant a lot to her and she wanted to have wedding photos taken in various locations on the beautiful Isle of Skye. I have to say she looked incredible in an amazing wedding gown that flowed in colours of blue and grey.
The weather was unpredictable and occasionally we could watch the sky grow dark and the incoming shower head over towards us. There were a few dashes back to the car along the way but some incredible images in the landscape which is what I love most. Michaela was well prepared with a pair of boots for walking in and was really happy to trek across the muddy ground – she never seemed to get muddy though and managed to still look amazing after the whole day outdoors.
We met with the guests before boarding the Misty Isles boat over to Loch Coruisk with Penelope Hamilton for their actual ceremony. We left and travelled over in the sunshine and walked over to a spot at the loch for the ceremony. Minutes later what I can only describe as a rain / hailstone storm opened up and with nowhere to shelter the couple embraced the wild weather and continued.
The rain subsided after a short and intense five minutes and a wind started that was so strong that I was almost blown off my feet. After that, everything went calm just in time for the rings and whisky to warm the couple up. I have never seen a group endure such bad weather before but in a way it made the day so memorable and unique and very truly Scottish. We travelled back to Elgol in the sunshine …

When it comes to wedding photography, there’s a whole lot of average, and it’s easy to make the wrong choice. With Margaret we quickly realised that her work was head and shoulders above anything we’d seen before. We looked over her portfolio on Facebook, Instagram and her website and hoped that we’d get something even half as good as the other weddings!
We weren’t disappointed at all – the shots we got back were insanely good. Not only are the pictures beautiful, but they really capture the spirit of the day! She has a wonderful eye for light, and her framing of the shots is fabulous.
Margaret has created some stunning shots that take us back to the day each time we look at them. She has captured all the emotions, laughter and love perfectly. They have also been amazing to show family and friends that couldn’t make our day and all of them have said they feel like they were there after viewing them.
Margaret herself felt like we’d met up with an old friend, she has a great sense of humour and made us feel like relaxed. She exudes a rare passion for her work, getting excited about different photo opportunities and running around looking for spots of light and new moments!
Her perception of events and ability to see things that others would miss is unique. Her communication skills are exceptional and understanding of what we wanted was very intuitive. We would recommend her without hesitation.
Thank you so much for making our wedding day perfect and stress free, from the moment you arrived you were calm and professional and just went ahead quietly blending into to the background like a friend, snapping away and making us feel relaxed and enabling natural moments to be photographed. Thank you for braving the rain, the August hail and strong winds on the day and still taken photographs that will remind us till the end of our days what an amazing day we have had.
